Leadership

Stacey Mosley, Founder & CEO
mosley@trystepwise.com
Prior to launching Stepwise in 2015, Stacey worked for the City of Philadelphia for five years practicing data science and operations engineering for the City’s Vacant Property Strategy and Open Data initiative. Honored as a Rising Star in Real Estate by the Philadelphia Inquirer and a Change Agent in Finance by the Philadelphia Business Journal, Stacey is an active member of the Urban Land Institute, sitting on the Policy & Land Use Council, Young Leadership Council, and NEXT cohort. She is a graduate of Northwestern University where she studied Manufacturing & Design Engineering.

Mjumbe Poe, Co-founder & CTO
poe@trystepwise.com
Mjumbe has been developing civic technology since 2010. He endeavors to use technology to build the capacity of individuals and communities to shape their cities, their neighborhoods, and their own lives. Prior to joining Stepwise in 2016, Mjumbe served as a Digital Services Architect at the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Open Data and Digital Transformation, and at OpenPlans where he worked on projects that encouraged city residents to get involved in planning for the future of their cities. In 2011, he was an inaugural Code for America Fellow. The perspective of technology as a means for social empowerment guides Mjumbe's professional and extracurricular development. He volunteers with Coded by Kids as an instructor and a board member, and is a member of the planning committee for the International Conference on Appropriate Technology.

Sean Fern, Infrastructure Engineer
fern@trystepwise.com
Sean first dug into Linux internals when Debian fit on four floppy disks. He brought that curiosity with him to the field of Library Science, developing systems for Columbia and Drexel Libraries. His focus on deployment and delivery grew while working on applications for Penn Medicine at client services firm P'unk Avenue. He went on to improve team processes and introduce departments in city government to AWS, and before coming to Stepwise he was an engineer at Vistar Media.

Jon Tehrani, Junior Data Engineer
jon@trystepwise.com
A chance encounter in 2011 sparked Jon’s interest in civic technology and he’s worked to develop relevant skills and knowledge ever since. Prior to joining Stepwise, Jon received a Master’s Degree in City & Regional Planning from Temple University, where he currently lectures on digital map creation as an Adjunct Professor. Jon has also previously worked extensively in the non-profit community development world, with roles as a community organizer at South Kensington Community Partners, where he facilitated resident participation in the local land development review process. He is a previous Research Fellow at OpenPlans, as well as an Americorps VISTA with the City of Philadelphia Mayor’s Office of Civic Engagement and Volunteer Service.
